Cinematic Biophilia presented by the Quickdraw Animation Society and GIRAF at Design Week Calgary
This evocative and tactile collection of animated shorts from women creators from across the globe spans the gamut of styles and artistic approaches. While showcasing the diverse range of perspectives and experiences from their creators, these films are united in their unflinching exploration of the feminine experience, and its essential connection to the natural world. From dream-like explorations of motherhood and loss, to shadowy rituals, to timeless coming-of-age stories, this is not the 'feminine mystique,' but rather the Feminine Mythic: primal, corporeal, and powerful, brought to vivid life through the unique emotivity of animation.
