

Informational Session: FY25 DOD Priorities – Current & Future Capabilities
Dear Colleagues,
In coordination with the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Applied Medical & Engineering (AM&E) Lab is excited to host a 60-minute event to review emerging FY2025 Department of Defense (DOD) priorities and requirements. Primarily, this event will focus on identifying University of Utah research capabilities and existing research expertise on campus that aligns well with the DOD’s warfighting requirements supporting the core readiness of the armed forces. Current and Future Capabilities refers to the development of core readiness capabilities fueling the ability of military forces to fight and meet the demands of assigned missions, essentially, signifying a state of preparedness to engage in combat and fulfill operational requirements, which is primarily assessed through factors like personnel training, equipment availability, and overall unit cohesion. Event details are below.

During the event, attendees will:
Learn about FY2025 Department of Defense priorities and requirements
Identify and share emerging areas and infrastructure needs to advance core readiness capabilities
Identify and share potential large-scale and relevant funding opportunities
Unite, catalyze, and develop teams of faculty to pursue emerging funding opportunities
Colonel Jim McDonough and Dr. Austin Johnson will lead the discussion on current efforts within this research space at the University of Utah and within the AM&E Lab. Researchers already engaged in this area, those interested in participating in these response teams, and individuals looking to contribute are encouraged to attend.
