Lightweight Debates n.001: Product & Eng
Debates can have a heavy connotation (and a lot of rules, if you’re following the academic approach.) But even the most fruitful conversations often have elements of debate- just look at the comments in Hacker News.
That’s why we’re introducing Lightweight Debates– a chance to reconnect in person and channel some of that stored-up social energy (and no, this isn’t just another AI meetup.)
Join us on October 30th at 5:30pm for an evening of hot takes by rad people, tasty food, and cold drinks. Our debates are so lightweight that we might even have the headliners argue BOTH sides of an issue, to keep things fun.
Debates on the docket:
The ideal Product Manager to Eng ratio
Can AI replace any role?
Local/Edge v Cloud
Should PMs know how to code?
BONUS! You’ll be listening to (lightweight) debates in style– surrounded by a one-of-a-kind car collection featuring a 1983 Rolls Royce Limo, a 1973 BMW 2002, and a converted EV VW Bus, because our first event venue is the new to SF (and coolest), Motoring Club.
Here’s who you can expect to hear from:
Alan Braithwaite, Founder and CTO of RunReveal, formerly at Segment and Cloudflare
Coleen Coolidge, CISO, previously at Twilio and Segment
Dani Grant, CEO, Jam.dev, formerly Cloudflare
Diana Kimball Berlin, Partner at Matrix
Tido Carriero, Founder and CEO of Koala, formerly Segment, Dropbox, Facebook
So if you're in Product or Eng and you like hot takes, cool people, and ridiculous cars— grab a ticket and come thru!
FAQs
Why is ticketing "by approval only?"
Space is limited, the food and bev is free, and the venue is rad— we'll optimize for letting in as close to the actual capacity as we can (100) but if it gets tight, we'll filter for peers of the headliners— PM & Eng leaders and execs.
Who is the event sponsor?
Lemon.io is the sponsor of the very first Lightweight Debates! Lemon is a popular platform for hiring contract developers for startups. Have an app that could use some extra pairs of hands (on keyboards)? Lemon's got all the hands you need.
What is this venue?
The Motoring Club (and Motoring Coffee, the retail space in front) is a car collectors, social, and co-working club. It started in LA and the Union Street location in SF is its second.
