About Event

PBL is a teaching method to engage students in learning from real-world and personally-meaningful projects. It’s been applauded as a pedagogy for deep learning, yet also infamously resource-demanding. Is PBL really only a pedagogy that works for youths? How might we leverage PBL in the world of adult learning, which is becoming more focused on skill-based and hands-on learning?

In today’s workshop, we will collaboratively identify the key principles and core practices of PBL. We will explore the differences between “dessert” vs. “main course” PBL. To fully live the spirit of knowledge in action, we will also get our hands dirty to apply the gold standards of PBL and design a mini PBL experience. When the main session ends, we have 30 mins of optional workshop time. If you are working on a project-based learning experience or have a specific challenge, feel free to message Lucy beforehand: lucybluecie@gmail.com!

Background on Lucy:
I am a fan of Project-Based Learning because that’s what life is! From her experiences as a founding class student at Minerva doing PBL & helping to establish a PBL high school in China, Lucy experienced and witnessed PBL innovation in action in multiple countries. Now, she’s leading the education team at Curious Cardinals, an Edtech dedicated to scaling PBL with mentorship to support youths to discover and pursue their passion.
