Self-Defense Workshop
The HLS Equal Opportunity Office along with the Dean of Students Office have partnered with IMPACT Inc. to host a self-defense workshop.
IMPACT’s Intro to Self-Defense course teaches students to resist threats, intimidation and violence perpetrated by strangers and familiar people. In a supportive, trauma-sensitive environment, students learn assertive verbal boundary setting techniques and physical skills to defend against a number of threatening scenarios. Participants then have the opportunity to practice the skills in the scenario with an instructor who plays the role of an aggressor. This experiential practice helps participants think on their feet and learn to manage their own stress response in order to respond effectively in the moment of confrontation.
Please register to secure a spot. Lunch will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!
