AI Impacts 101
In this training session for freelancers, industry and civil society, we will move beyond the hype to share the environmental and social impacts of AI. Understanding the impacts of AI will help you to make informed decisions and intentional trade-offs in your work.
While there are some clear societal red lines, as set out in the Human Rights Act, the abundance of different sets of principles for responsible AI show that, in operational terms at least, ethics are relational and should be based upon both the values and operating context of your work.
This session is for people getting started with or interested in improving their AI literacy. You might already be commissioning, procuring, or working with AI systems, or you might be curious about the impacts of doing more work with AI. No technical expertise is required.
Learning Outcomes:
An understanding of AI systems
An understanding of the environmental impacts of AI
An understanding of (some of) AI’s social impacts
An introduction to the AI policy landscape
Takeaways:
An AI and related terms glossary
