The Gay Research Outtakes: An Other Olympians Event
Not every great story makes it to print. What do writers do with the queer figure they became totally obsessed with, but didn’t quite fit into their final draft? The song with a wildly queer origin story that they could never find a place to write about? Or the obscure film they’re dying to reclaim as a camp classic?
To celebrate the paperback launch of The Other Olympians, we’re gathering three of queer nonfiction’s most brilliant minds—Leah Tigers, Sabrina Imbler, and Hugh Ryan—to take us down their favorite gay research rabbit holes that still languish on their hard drive. Expect archival deep cuts, overlooked icons and outtakes that deserve the spotlight.
Plus, Michael will talk through a cut storyline from The Other Olympians.
Your readers:
Sabrina Imbler is the author of How Far The Light Reaches and Dyke (geology) and is officially one year clean from gambling on Neopets.
Hugh Ryan is the author of When Brooklyn Was Queer and an obsessive collector of other people's diaries.
Leah Tigers is the author of numerous transgender history essays at trickymothernature.com, and has been recently researching the history of political assassinations, for no particular reason.
Michael Waters is the author of The Other Olympians and a lover of mid-century tabloids.
