Positive Tipping Points: Pathways for mCDR
Join us to explore scalable, verifiable, and impactful mCDR roadmaps
Hosted by CarbonFix and Katapult Ocean
How do we define the right pathways for marine carbon removal? Science, NGO, or venturing? Can we integrate engineering and nature-based approaches? Join us to explore scalable, verifiable, and impactful mCDR roadmaps.
We are facing several critical tipping points, as widely discussed by now. Yet, alongside these challenges, we are also witnessing beautiful tipping points. Consider the shifting mindsets where capital and talent are no longer deployed solely for personal gain (“ego”) but increasingly for the benefit of entire ecosystems. A growing community of philanthropists, foundations, investors, founders, and teams is — necessarily and rightfully — standing shoulder to shoulder to move the needle in the right direction. This is truly inspiring.
But now, it’s time to deploy the right plans and pathways. Yet, what are those pathways? Time, as we know, is not on our side. We cannot afford endless debates; we need to act and deploy now.
For mega-complex systems like the ocean, there are still no clear playbooks. As venture philanthropist and climate investor at CarbonFix, we grapple with identifying the 'right' pathways for restoring the ocean and putting it (back) to work for our carbon-negative goals in the near future. Should we bet on science? Or double down on engineers and venture builders? Hackers might argue that scientists are too slow, while others counter that hackers are only good at breaking things.
Let’s stop arguing against each other and start rallying together, bringing our humble and creative minds to this challenge. Join us during this workshop to make sense of the pathway options within all ocean carbon removal subcategories. Let’s deploy the right action plans together and help us catalyze money, models, and mindsets as effectively as possible!
