Folk Art Practice: Water Margin Playing Cards 民间的水墨-水浒叶子练习
Description
In the this week's class, we will be looking at how folk art and artists (woodblock illustrations, Eight Brokens paintings, export painting) reshaped traditional visual systems through mass reproduction in Ming and Qing. Then, we will be practicing line and ink techniques with fundamental tools (brush, ink, paper, inkstone) in Chinese painting.
We will provide ink, paint, brushes, and paper for class use. You may take all the artwork you’ve produced with you!
Every “Ink Painting Lab” is composed of lectures on Chinese ink art history, painting technique demonstration and practicing sessions.
