Climate, Conservation and Community: A Transdisciplinary Political Ecology Dialogue
The Transdisciplinary Political Ecology working group brings together a diverse group of actors that are directly or indirectly concerned with Climate justice, Energy transitions, Decarbonization and the Environment. This one-day workshop aims to foster inclusive dialogue and knowledge exchange across disciplines, cultures, and sectors to explore shared challenges and opportunities in addressing climate change. The event will bring together a dynamic group of scholars, graduate students, Indigenous community members, and representatives from non-academic organizations to engage in meaningful conversations on: a) Climate change mitigation and financial mechanisms (e.g., carbon taxes, carbon credits); b) Carbon dioxide removal (both nature-based and engineered solutions) and Energy transition; and c) Environmental conservation, wellbeing and food security. The workshop will include a combination of presentations grounded in theory, practice, pedagogy, and policy, as well as interactive sessions that facilitate dialogue across different knowledge systems and communities of practice. This event is open to students, researchers, academics, members of civil society, the Government, the Private sector and Indigenous Communities who are interested in these topics for collaborative opportunities towards a sustainable future.
