About Event

Did you ever want to design a Formula E car?

Do you want to train an AI model using our proprietary CFD and wind tunnel data?

Lola Cars presents this unique event offering access to a subset of our data for the B12 -60 Le Mans racecar.

Since inception, Lola has been a pioneer in motorsports performance. 2024/2025 marks Lola's proud return to racing as a Formula E team in partnership with Yamaha.

Lola is innovating in EV, hydrogen and sustainable materials to make motorsport more sustainable.

Who?

We are seeking AI researchers, engineers, physicists and more to spend the day with us and see how we can train a model to replace CFD and wind tunnels.

Join people from Open AI, Cruise and more

Why?

Make it work and join our AI team. We are assembling a founding team of engineers and researchers to create an AI powered virtual wind tunnel.

The verticalization of AI present an opportunity for Lola to create the AI expert of how air behaves.

What will take place?

  1. Welcome session - explain what we're doing

  2. Expert to layout some options

  3. Break into smaller groups to discuss options on how to train a model

  4. Finalize groups around attendees preferred approach

  5. Present final results

How to train a model? (you decide, some initial suggestions below)

1. Using a model such as PointNet, can we feed that a point cloud of the 3D shape to get a numerical representation of that shape. With that in mind we could train a very simple model to learn the relationship between different variables (wind speed etc) ?

2. Could we use a 3D ML model to create a vector representation of the object and then train a model on top of that to predict forces?

3. Your suggestion....
