About Event

Are you interested in youth and global development? Are you looking for ways to work with the United Nations and other international organizations? Join First Gen Support's event with prominent youth development leader and non-profit strategist Andrew Maguire who supports young people around the globe!

His first book Teaching Between the Lines: How Youth Development Organizations Reveal the Hidden Curriculum explores the unspoken but powerful norms and expectations of the college process and the ways youth development organizations help youth navigate and possibly transform colleges to be more accessible and equitable. In writing this book, he hopes to continue necessary dialogue around how to bring equity and inclusion to America’s broken education system. Teaching Between the Lines was published by New Degree Press in September 2021. The book can be found on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Bookshop.

Andrew currently serves as Deputy Director of Global Programs at UNICEF USA. In 2018, Andrew was selected as a Luce Scholar and helped launch the undergraduate program at Fulbright University Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He’s been fortunate to work with a number of fantastic organizations, including World Learning, Doctors Without Borders, UNDP, and the U.S. Department of State.
