About Event

When we think about the future of climate and technology, imaginaries such as "techno-fix" or "techno-dystopia" often come to mind. However, these imaginaries frequently fall short in sparking genuine environmental learning and action. They also overshadow the pressing need to confront deeper socio-cultural issues such as dominant anthropocentric perspectives and systemic injustice.

As a team of researchers from Stanford University, we're interested in supporting students and the wider public to imagine alternative futures for climate and technology. Through our previous work, we've developed storytelling workshops to leverage embodied, interactive activities and creative expression to foster intentional imagination. We're excited to bring our imaginative workshop to the SF Climate Week! If weather permits, we'll meet outside, walking, talking, writing, and imagining on/with the grass.

For those who are new to fabulation, you are welcome to read one example from our paper titled "AI as a Child of Mother Earth: Regrounding Human-AI Interaction in Ecological Thinking." Link is here: https://arxiv.org/abs/2403.06943
