"She's In Jail" 幸彤在監獄 - Berlin Documentary Screening of the Hong Kong Female Democratic Fighter
“I think my position is to do what I can. I don’t want to give people the impression that everything ends with imprisonment. So I am very conscious about continuing to speak out, continue to maintain the so-called visibility, and not to disappear because I am in prison. Especially in our modern world, it’s actually not that easy to make a person disappear."
- Chow Hang Tung
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the 2019 Hong Kong protests and the tenth anniversary of the Umbrella Movement.
Join us for the screening of "She's in Jail," a documentary that showcases the remarkable courage of Chow Hang Tung. As a Hong Kong barrister and democratic activist, Chow is currently imprisoned under the National Security Law. Despite her incarceration, Chow's spirit has been recognized globally, earning her five international human rights awards in 2023, including the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) Human Rights Award. Through in-depth interviews and personal accounts from friends and comrades, it narrates her contributions to the democratic movements, and reflects the current political and human rights situation in Hong Kong.
