New To NYC with Tiny Dinner at Fabrik DUMBO
July is Social Wellness Month! This is a time to recognize the vital role connection plays in our well-being. At Fabrik, we're on a mission to end the loneliness epidemic by creating intentional spaces where people can gather, belong, and feel seen. Whether you're attending a gathering, hosting a conversation, or simply showing up with presence, your participation helps us build a stronger, more connected community.
If you’re new to New York, this one’s for you. Join us for an evening designed for the city’s newest residents.
There are a lot of reasons to move to New York, but if you ask any long-time resident what keeps them here, it’s the people. Whether you’re here for a chapter or a lifetime, this gathering will set you up to make the most of every moment and every connection.
You’ll hear from people who have ‘cracked the code’ on finding their people -- including what surprised them and what they wish they knew earlier. You’ll also get to meet fellow newcomers who are just as excited (and maybe a little overwhelmed?) to be here as you are.
Agenda:
6:00pm - Doors open, wine and cheese
6:15pm - Conversation and Q&A with four people who will share how they forged connections after moving to NYC, including:
✨ David Nebinski, community builder and podcast host who's built personal community while also connecting others through great events (always while wearing cool pants)
✨ Abbas Shikari, robot maker (I think that's his official title) who's built relationships through thoughtful outreach in the short time he's been in New York
✨ Crystal Biteng, turning Pinterest boards into FOMO-inducing parties and acquaintances into friends since the moment she moved here
✨ Isabella Cassell, bringing joy back to dating in NYC with The Full + helping people 'connection map' their way to values-aligned social experiences
7:00 - 8:00pm - More nibbles and mingling
Come ready to swap stories, ask questions, share your NYC bucket list, and leave with a few friends to explore the city with.
Hosted by Fabrik and Fabrik member Saba Ahmed, social-wellness advocate and cofounder of a dinner party club called Tiny Dinner - bringing the home back as a center for community through small gatherings with friends of friends in people's homes.
Fabrik is a home for communities where everyone has a place to belong. With spaces designed to feel more like your living room than your office, Fabrik’s third spaces are vibrant hubs where people can come together in real life, explore interests, forge meaningful connections, and build a sense of community.
