​This workshop offers an introduction to the art and craft of creating music for trailers. Ideal for beginners and those curious about the industry, participants will gain practical insights and learn the foundational steps to begin their journey in trailer music production.

   • ​Overview of Trailer Music: Discuss the role of music in trailers and why it's crucial for setting the tone and mood.

   • ​Characteristics & Styles: Explore common styles and elements in trailer music, such as dramatic builds, epic orchestration, and impactful soundscapes.

2. ​Getting Started with Trailer Music (15 mins)

   • ​Basic Setup: Overview of essential equipment and software for beginners, including DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) like Logic Pro, Ableton Live, or FL Studio.

   • ​Finding Inspiration: Tips on sourcing inspiration, such as studying existing trailers, understanding different genres, and keeping up with industry trends.

   • ​Networking Basics: Initial steps to making industry connections, including attending events, engaging on social media, and joining online communities.

3. ​Role of Trailer Agencies & Music Departments (10 mins)

   • ​What Trailer Agencies Do: Introduction to trailer agencies, which specialize in creating promotional content for movies, TV shows, and video games. They handle everything from conceptualizing the trailer to editing, sound design, and final production.

   • ​Music Department's Role:

4. ​Opportunities & Placements (10 mins)

   • ​How to Get Your Music Placed: Overview of pathways to getting your music used in trailers, such as through music libraries, direct licensing, and working with trailer houses.

   • ​Pitching Your Music: Tips on creating a compelling portfolio, crafting an effective pitch, and reaching out to the right contacts.

5. ​Creative Demo - (25 mins)

   • ​Exploring the Creative Process: Breakdown of a typical workflow in composing trailer music, from conceptualizing a piece to finalizing the mix.

   • ​Brief Sound Design Overview: Introduction to the basics of sound design in trailers, including creating impactful sound effects and atmospheric elements.

   • ​Showcase of Music and Trailer: Present an example by playing the composed music, followed by the corresponding trailer, illustrating how the music supports the visual narrative.

6. ​Tools & Resources for Getting Started (10 mins)

   • ​Essential Tools: Introduction to beginner-friendly software and sample libraries.

   • ​Learning Resources: Recommend books, online courses, and tutorials for further learning.

7. ​Q&As (10-20 mins)
