About this Event

In this panel, we will bring together high-ranking representatives from institutions that participated in the ECB Trials. We’ll discuss what we have learned from the ECB Trials and what their impact will be on digital assets, securities settlement, and delivery-vs-payment (DvP).

About the ECB Trials and Experiments

With the 'ECB Trials and Experiments,' the Eurosystem is currently testing three novel solutions for payment methods with central bank money. These trials have been initiated to practically explore DvP processes (Delivery vs. Payment) with blockchain-based securities in a limited timeframe until the end of November. The three different solutions from Bundesbank, Banque de France, and Banca d’Italia allow for a technical and operational connection between the asset and the payment leg for institutions with a qualified 'Market DLT' (representing the asset leg). All three systems eventually connect the asset ledgers to TARGET services, the RTGS system (Real-Time Gross Settlement) of the Eurosystem, and focus on the atomicity of the settlement process, i.e., that a payment is always tightly coupled to the ownership transfer of an asset.
