Anatomy and Physiology of Pre-War Aikido
Join Rodrigo Kong (emergency room physician and martial artist) and Noah Landow (Founder and CEO at Macktez) for an informal conversation about the fascinating interplay of anatomy, physiology, and the ancient Japanese art of Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu.
Join us at the Macktez office, after work, over light snacks and sips, for a thought-provoking discussion on the foundational principles of the concept of “aiki” at the core of Daito-Ryu, and Rodrigos; theories of how it leverages the body's natural structure for effectiveness. We’ll uncover some insights into classical techniques revealing specific muscle groups and joint manipulations involved. Lastly, we’ll discuss the historical evolution of Daito-Ryu, tracing its lineage from ancient samurai battlefields to its modern-day practice and the evolving understanding of the body's mechanics.
Rodrigo will draw upon his extensive knowledge and practice, as a 4th Dan in TAMA and 6th Dan in Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu, coupled with a MFA in figurative sculpture and his current profession as aER doctor, will share insights for and from intricate world of Aikijutsus, often called “pre-war Aikido,” revealing how a deep understanding of the human body reveals some fascinating insights into far east Asian internal energy-focused martial arts.
Join us at the Macktez office, after work, over light snacks and sips, for an engaging exploration of the hidden connections between martial arts mastery and the human body.
