Praxis #004 (ft. GovTech AI Practice)
🌟Join us on Friday, for edition 4 of Praxis - dedicated sessions for technical deep dives and capabilities transfer.
GovTech's AI Practice will be back for a second month, where they will cover the following topics:
About the sessions
Richard Yan and Victor Ong will be sharing more about their newly developed development playbook, which provides a framework for scaling from Stage 1 MLOps to Stage 2 MLOps. For more details on the differences between these stages, refer to their 2024 MLOps Playbook. Additionally, they will also sharing insights on AI Practice initiatives in the MLOps track. This session will cover how to adopt MLOps effectively, highlight common challenges, and discuss suboptimal practices in MLOps setups. (Technical Level: 200)
Ng Shangru (AIE, GovTech) from GovTech's AI Practice will share on some of the learnings from the recent AAAI-25 conference. The sharing will cover some of the more (in his opinion) notable and interesting takeaways from the conference that can be applied to the work being done not just in AI Practice, but also in the wider AI space in general.
Jessica Foo (Senior AI Engineer, GovTech) and Shaun Khoo (Data Scientist, GovTech) from GovTech's AI Practice will share more about the recent conference trip to the 31st International Conference on Computational Linguistics, going through some interesting papers they found, discussing some insights from the researchers they met, and sharing some key takeaways from attending academic conferences.
More About the Speakers:
Richard Yan is a DevOps Engineer and an AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional with a strong background in CI/CD, automation, and security compliance. He has worked on MLOps, cloud architecture, and infrastructure optimization, using tools such as Ship-Hats, Terraform, AWS Step Functions, SageMaker, and containerized applications.
Victor Ong is a data scientist with experience leading teams to implement AI & data science use cases at MND and MOE. Prior to this, he worked in the academic sector, specializing in variational Bayesian methods and model selection for Graphical Markov Models. He can talk about statistics all day long—and birds.
Ng Shangru is an AI Engineer at GovTech's AI Practice where he leads the AI Infra track looking at all things infrastructure in relation to AI and LLMs, such as running your own LLM infrastructure. He tries to do experiments and be a data scientist and is 50% successful.
Jessica Foo and Shaun Khoo are the technical leads for the Responsible AI team within GovTech's AI Practice. Jessica led a variety of data science projects at MTI focusing on network analytics, machine learning causal inference and policy evaluation. At GovTech, she has developed computer vision platforms and algorithms for explainability, and is part of growing efforts to improve testing and responsible AI across government AI applications. Shaun currently focuses on applied research into AI safety and robustness while also working on AI governance with the National AI Group at the MDDI. He previously led a team of data scientists at the MOM supporting labour policy and ops.
