Shaped by Light
In this edition of figure drawing at Drawing Room, we’re focusing light and shadow to create dramatic, expressive, and energetic drawings! Figure drawing can be intimidating, but what’s more beautiful than the human figure? We want to make it as easy as possible to become more confident in drawing the body while practicing with a live model!
Let go of your expectations of what figure drawing should be and experience what it can be with a community of students coming from all skill levels. Learn how to utilize not only drawing tools like charcoal and pastels, but also the eraser! We’ll also touch on concepts like mark making, negative vs positive space, and of course light vs shadow! Most importantly you will leave the workshop with a foundation of expressive figure drawing that will let you play far beyond the workshop’s end.
We’ll give you hands-on instruction based on our instructor’s personal practice and love for drawing. With a background in dance, Adriana believes that figure drawing is a full body experience where we will be stretching, moving, and using our own bodies to learn. Let’s play, flow, and experience the energy of figure drawing!

All workshops are beginner-friendly and designed to spark creativity and connection, perfect solo or with friends!

Your ticket includes access to our Open Hours, to use our space for the day of the event, so you're welcome to come a bit early and linger later, if you'd like. If you've never been to Open Hours at Drawing Room, it includes unlimited loose-leaf tea, coffee, wifi, and access to our games/book library. We also offer our Art Library for an additional cost. Please show the front desk host this ticket to grant you entry.

IMPORTANT NOTES: All tickets are final sale. We are a shoes-off, socks-required space; please bring your own socks or we have some for purchase for $1. Our events are geared towards connection through creativity; for many, you will be sitting around shared tables. Unfortunately, all ticketed events and workshops are 16+ at this time. Anyone 16-18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are also not permitted at events. Upon entering our space you are consenting to photography/videography that may be used for promotional purposes.
