About Event

In the last 5+ years in Germany as a software developer I've:

  • Worked as an employee for almost 2 years on a blue card visa

  • was laid off more than once

  • Worked as a freelancer for last 3+ years on a freelancer visa

Recently, I got my EU Permanent residency application approved inspite of different challenges(related to Covid, ongoing war in Europe etc.,) I faced as an expat freelancer over the last 3+ years in Germany.

The peace of mind and the sense of relief that comes with this is hard to express in words. My linkedin post here has more details about my story, in case you'd like to learn more.

Call To Action

If any of you are currently navigating the challenging IT job market in Germany and if you have any questions for me related to finding IT jobs(both as an employee/freelancer) & more specifically related to:

  • How to get interviews

  • How to prepare for interviews

  • Blue card or freelance visa related questions(I can only share my personal experience and not offer legal advice)

    • Advantages & requirements of a freelance visa

    • Advantages of a blue card visa

    • Working towards a PR when having a freelance visa

  • Difference between a normal PR and EU PR in Germany

  • How to make the most of the time in between jobs(in case of layoffs or otherwise)

  • You have other questions/challenges you'd like to discuss pertaining to your new job/current job/job search

This get together meetup is intended for you and is an attempt to provide a safe space to be seen, listened to, & be understood and also answer your questions on any of the above topics.

Sharing Experiences is welcome: As a fellow human, I'm one among you & I might not have answers to all of your questions. I'm also a big believer in Bill Nye's quote: "Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't.". Everyone is encouraged to also share their experiences as well so that more people could help each other out in general.
