​New in 2025, the Non-Profit Spotlight at Collaborative CT aims to strengthen the connection between innovation and impact by featuring a different nonprofit community partner each month. By spotlighting mission-driven organizations, we highlight how the entrepreneurial ecosystem can both support and learn from their work. This month's Non-Profit Spotlight is:

​Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (DESK) is a nonprofit organization in New Haven dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Founded in 1987, DESK provides a variety of basic needs, including meals, groceries, toiletries, clothing, and harm reduction supplies.  In addition, DESK operates New Haven's only low-barrier Downtown Drop-in & Resource Center, where unhoused individuals can connect to case management, medical care, and mental health services.  Committed to dignity and community, DESK is powered by almost 2,000 volunteers annually, and a network of more than 10,000 local businesses, community partners, and individual donors to effect meaningful change in the lives of New Haven residents.
