Let’s build better maps together!
Welcome to the Map-a-thon, where global innovation meets local community development!
Continuing with the momentum generated by the community-led Civic Tech Buildathon, Hack-o-ween, Build DAO and Liberty DAO are challenging everyone to create interactive maps utilizing NEAR and Mapbox.js
We are bringing people together IRL on Tuesday, December 12 to showcase projects built around the world. Our team will share how to get involved and earn by contributing to the map.
All builders are invited to participate from anywhere. The main goal is learning to make something out of BOS components (a.k.a. coding legos).

Guiding Questions:
What does your map of the internet look like?
Where should any open web map lead?
Which plugins would be most useful?
How could we visualize data to help citizens better understand insights regarding projects and communities around the world?
What features could be used to help solve problems from local organizations? For example, the Food Bank.

Levels
The Map-a-thon has 3 levels to it, and you are invited to participate as a beginner, intermediate, or expert builder.
1. Suggest Map Ideas
The mission is to build reusable map components, and we want to gather as many ideas as possible. With everyone posting thoughtful plans for new layers and specific functionality, builders will understand how to create better solutions together.
2. Create Your Own Map
We are cultivating a worldwide community of builders who are passionate about helping others in the NEAR ecosystem. Learn how anyone can build their own layer on top of the core Map component. Follow the guide and help each other navigate along this journey.
3. Improve the Map Toolkit
Builders can earn significant rewards by enhancing available resources for creating maps with specific data, filters, and interactions. Community contributions will be crucial for understanding common issues, optimizing documentation, and improving quality of experience for all kinds of map users.
