Drawing Club x Jordan Sondler —Visual Journaling
One of the easiest ways to live more creatively every single day is to use something that is (almost) always available… paper & pencil. Since the dawn of time, humans have been creatively mark making for both purpose and pleasure, but we know how hard it can be to pick a that colored pencil back up (enter: drawing club).
We’re so psyched to be joined by Jordan Sondler for this visual journaling edition of drawing club. We’ll come together and explore feelings and memories through color!
Throughout the guided, two hour session, you will have the chance to explore the medium through Jordan’s eyes, drawing in response to three different prompts. We’ll experiment with different drawing mediums (+ have a mixed media moment), focusing on the process rather than the product. This is not a drawing class, but you can expect an introduction to the materials, techniques and to pull inspiration from Jordan’s work to try out throughout the evening.
If you’re anything like us and want to live a life filled to the brim with creativity— we have space for you at our long, communal (naturally, handmade in brooklyn:) art/craft table.
Drawers of all skill levels, professions and backgrounds are welcome here, and will find a breath of fresh air in the opportunity to experiment and play alongside other creative-minded folk.
As with all RecCreate events, you can expect to go on this journey with a room full of lovely strangers. We’ll offer opportunities for connection and guided conversation throughout our time— encouraging the spirit of the collective. It is (so) much more fun to get to create together.
The tunes will be bumping, and we often have drink sponsors who make sure you have something fun to sip on. All materials included, but feel free to bring your own sketchbook!
Jordan Sondler is a Brooklyn-based illustrator, professor and the author of Feel It Out. She designs many things—including murals, television sets, books about feelings, children's clothing, 90's nostalgia diaries, and beyond. Jordan loves to contemplate death and the big questions in life, such as “How many New York City men must one date to meet someone emotionally available?” Join her over at the Dead Parent Club or drop her a line to work on something FUN!
Cancelation Policy
Unfortunately for this event tickets are non-refundable/exchange-able! Please double check your calendar. In the event you are no longer able to make it, you are welcome to give your ticket to a friend or swap it on our ticket swap board. Just tell them to use your name!

Age Restriction & Dogs
All guests must be 18+ to attend and though we love your pups, unfortunately cannot have them in the studio!
