The Entrepreneur Who Built Vista Energy: The Growth Story Behind $5b Argentinian Shale Oil Company
Miguel Galuccio is a globally recognized energy executive and the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Vista, the first NYSE-listed independent energy company operating in the world-class Vaca Muerta formation in Argentina. Under Mr. Galuccio’s leadership, Vista raised USD 700 million in the Mexican Stock Exchange through a SPAC (Special Purpose Acquisition Company) vehicle in August 2017. In July 2019, Vista launched its USD 100 million dual-listing and started trading in the New York Stock Exchange, becoming the only “pure-play” public investment opportunity in Vaca Muerta. By the end of 2024, Vista's market cap was above $5Bn.
Previously, he served as Chairman and CEO of YPF, Argentina’s largest energy company, where he played a pivotal role in unlocking the potential of Vaca Muerta—earning him the nickname “the architect of Vaca Muerta.” Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles at SLB (formerly known as Schlumberger), the world’s leading oilfield services company, where he still serves as an active board member.
Beyond energy, he co-founded and chairs GridX, a biotech incubator that has launched over 30 science-driven startups across health, food, energy, and materials.
