About the Trainer
Vladimir Izmalkov is a Technical Writer with over 14 years of experience in software development and creating highly technical, developer-focused documentation in both Russian and English.
He holds two degrees from Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU), one of Russia’s top technical institutions, and a PhD in safety in emergencies and computer science. His early career in academia led him to become the Head of Research at a prominent research institute.
Seeking a career change, Vladimir transitioned to the corporate sector without prior enterprise software development experience. Leveraging his expertise in documentation and information technologies, he secured a Senior Technical Writer position at VK (formerly Mail.Ru), a major IT company. After nearly two years documenting the NoSQL database Tarantool, he was promoted to Team Leader of the documentation team in VK Cloud Solutions.
Vladimir then moved to London to become the sole technical writer at a tech startup. Following a year and a half in this fast-paced environment, he joined Canonical, a UK-based leading open-source software company, as a Technical Author III, focusing on documenting products for the Data Platform team.
