About Event

SF Game Development is excited to be featuring two exciting talks from community members who are veterans in the gaming space. Join us in person at DNA Lounge on Tuesday, July 22nd from 5:30pm-9:00pm. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn from industry experts, who will take the stage at 7:00 pm. Whether you're a seasoned game developer, an aspiring artist, a student, or an indie creator, this event is designed for you. Come mingle with like-minded professionals and enthusiasts, and enjoy pizza which will be available for purchase from the DNA restaurant. There's a full-service bar at the venue with all proceeds supporting the venue. Your participation helps us continue hosting fantastic events in their 3,000 sqft space. You'll also get a chance to demo indie games, and try out the Burnersphere yourself.

Burnersphere: Building a Year-Round Social VR Documentary for Burning Man Culture
Doug Jacobson, Co-Founder at Big Rock Creative (BRCvr)

Burnersphere is a new social VR platform designed to capture the stories, spirit, and spontaneity of Burning Man culture year-round. This talk by Doug Jacobson will explore how BRCvr is blending immersive documentary storytelling with live multiplayer interaction to create a participatory, always-evolving virtual experience. Josette Seitz will break down the photogrammetry pipeline process used to capture and reconstruct Burning Man sculptures and art installations for real-time use in immersive environments. Additionally, they will be covering topics around development challenges, top learnings and go to market strategy.

Git Gud at Version Control: How to Fix (and Prevent) Mistakes Using Git
Avin Zarlez, Staff Developer Advocate at Arm

Mistakes are inevitable — but you can make them easier to deal with. This session is for indie game developers looking to deepen their understanding of Git beyond the basics. Avin Zarlez will explore practical techniques for undoing errors safely, understanding of when to use merging vs. rebasing, how to maintain clean histories with large binary assets in collaborative workflows, and demystify how Git actually works.

Whether you’ve been burned by a bad merge, accidentally committed huge files, or simply want to avoid pushing broken builds, this talk will help you “git gud” at version control.

See you all there!

Thank you everyone for RSVPing for our SF Game Development event with our fellow indie game developers. We can't wait to see everyone there. Make sure to arrive at 5:30pm for networking and game demos. You MUST RSVP on Luma to secure your spot.
