About Event

Context

Transforming the world also requires reinvigorating, reimagining and transforming UNFPA, in line with a reformed United Nations development system. The development landscape in which UNFPA operates continually evolves, with advances in technology growing exponentially and affecting the lives of human beings more than ever before.

Complex global challenges, such as climate change, demographic shifts and the COVID-19 pandemic, have threatened development gains and require UNFPA to continue to evolve and adapt. To address the challenges, UNFPA must embrace changes that will transform the Fund into a more agile, flexible and innovative organization, capable of fostering new ways of doing business with a range of public and private partners.

UNFPA’s Strategic Plan 2022-2025 has identified innovation as a key accelerator to meet current challenges and boosting its impact, especially in addressing furthest behind populations, improving programme impact and effectiveness and leveraging opportunities, social capital, funding and technology by (a) strengthening the corporate innovation architecture, culture, communities and capabilities, (b) scaling up proven and impactful innovations, (c) forming new partnerships and connecting with relevant innovation ecosystems, and (d) strengthening and leveraging financing for innovation.

To leverage new strategic opportunities and partnerships around high impact solutions linked with our mandate, UNFPA is creating a series of virtual innovative, collaborative, flexible and adaptive roundtables with UNFPA innovators and external industry leaders, entrepreneurs and subject matter experts.

Objectives

  1. Leverage positive and disruptive innovations to accelerate the progress for women and girls, specifically for solving the challenges in ending unmet need for family planning, preventable maternal deaths, gender-based violence and harmful practices.

  2. Capitalize on the  latest evidence, practise and knowledge, shared by the experts and key actors of the innovation ecosystem.

  3. Foster knowledge sharing and co-creation between sector experts and UNFPA staff to maximize the impact integrating new high impact practices and solutions.
