Data In Power - NYC Workshop
Data and the distribution of decision-making power is an increasingly important dynamic to understand and engage with in climate and energy. At Data In Power, we believe the method AND end product of data (collection, analysis, and visualization) are critical to decision-making. How are data being collected, analyzed, and presented - why and by whom? These are the hard-hitting questions we are unpacking.
**FORMAT**: This Data In Power workshop features our Core Members, who will present their perspective on the dynamic between data and the distribution of decision-making followed by a facilitated open discussion on this topic. For instance, how do different data collection, analysis, or presentation methods influence energy infrastructure investments? Is it possible for two climate stakeholders to analyze the same data collected and come to opposing conclusions? These are the types of complex and nuanced themes that have emerged from previous Data In Power gatherings and the workshop is a place for us to connect deeper on questions like this. Here is a video with some background on Data In Power's focus within data and the distribution of decision-making power.
This workshop is hosted by Crystal Soo, an energy industry expert, in collaboration with Jain Family Institute (JFI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit applied research organization with a mission to apply the instruments and frameworks of finance to issues of global policy concern. JFI works to understand and coordinate international channels of state and private resources by applying data, modeling, and simulation tools to big challenges.
