About Event

Christopher Zeischegg will make a rare appearance in NYC to celebrate THE MAGICIAN LAUNCH PARTY, a night of autofiction and alter egos.

On November 1st, Apocalypse Party Press will re-release THE MAGICIAN, a contemporary horror novel that garnered a rabid cult following when it was originally released in 2020. THE MAGICIAN is a dark, hallucinatory journey through California's fractured dreamscape, a melding of horror and autofiction based loosely on Zeischegg's post-porn life. Sex work, addiction, family, the occult, and Christianity converge in Zeischegg’s visionary nightmare, host to a fictional Christopher who writhes within the dark mirror of his author’s reality.

THE MAGICIAN LAUNCH PARTY is therefore an ode to the alter ego in all its forms. It’s an interrogation of identity as I/you/we know it. It’s a poke at the autofictive glut in contemporary literature. It’s an excuse to abandon your persona for the night.

Come as you are (or not) for readings by:

Followed by a short film screening of THE MAGICIAN — inspired by the harrowing story behind the text — and a performance by hip hop//electronica//industrial duo iD-SuS.

Hosted by IZZY CAPULONG. Photos by LYSS LESTER.

Fresh copies of THE MAGICIAN available for purchase. Booze on the house.  Alter egos welcome.
