Is Monogamy a Myth? 👩🏾❤️💋👩🏾
In recent years there’s been a movement to interrogate the idea of a single soulmate, with the representation of non-monogamy cropping up more and more in our media. From characters like Nola Darling in She’s Gotta Have It and basically the whole cast in the Spanish teen drama Elite, to the love triangle in Chain Gang All-stars and the real life representation in shows like Couples Therapy, this flurry of representation seems to show that unconventional relationship dynamics are gaining even more popularity.
This is the second instalment in our LOVE + RELATIONSHIP series! Join us for this speed salon where we’ll be discussing ethical non-monogamy, polyamory and other non-traditional romantic dynamics. Expect quick-fire 1-1 discussions to get the conversations going plus a chance to mingle and expand on some of these earlier conversations over a drink.
We’ll have a handful of interrogating prompts on hand to aid discussion and encourage authentic connection. There’s no homework for this one and conversations aren’t strictly facilitated, all you need to do is come ready to chat!
When all the guests have arrived the host will explain how the evening will unfold and each table will be given aids for discussion. When the speed salon begins everyone assigned ‘A’ will remain seated and ‘B’ will move from table to table every 5 minutes. On each table, there will be prompts and you’ll be able to have mini discussions with everyone in attendance.
The Speed Salon will kick off promptly at 8 pm and any guests arriving late may not be able to take part so please ensure you arrive on time to ensure you can join in the discussions.
What to expect -
7:00p - doors open
7:30p - speed salon discussions start
8:30 - chill + continue chat
We’ll have soft drinks to keep you going and if you fancy something stronger the bar is available with alcoholic drinks for purchase.
