Breaking The Mould: Filipino Heritage Month
Canadian Asian Professionals (CAP) is here to spotlight Asian Canadians who are building community, leading businesses, shaking up industries, and doing cool shit around the city.
Our mission? To inspire Asian Canadians to explore careers beyond the “traditional” path — and to create space to connect with mentors, role models, and like-minded changemakers right here in YYC.
This month, we’re proud to welcome:
✨ Lourdes Juan — Entrepreneur, Urban Planner, TED Speaker, and all-around powerhouse. With a Master’s in Environmental Design, Lourdes has founded a dynamic mix of organizations including Hive Developments, Knead Technologies, Leftovers Foundation, Fresh Routes, and Soma Spa.
She’s an award-winning entrepreneur who’s been named one of Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40, received the L’Oréal Paris Women of Worth Award, Culbert Family Philanthropy Award, UCalgary Arch Award, and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee and King’s Coronation Medals.
She’s also a tireless community advocate, serving on local and national boards focused on food security, urban design, affordable housing, and social impact.
🎤 Vangie Caoile — A force in Alberta’s cultural and creative scene, Vangie is the Chair of Fiesta Filipino, one of the province’s largest cultural festivals and Filipino organizations. She’s also the President and CEO of Canada Advantage, Executive Producer at Birns and Sawyers Studios Canada Inc., and Chief Strategy Officer at Maitre Integrated Solutions.
