Empowering the Future

​The Entrepreneurs Network and YBI (Youth Business International) are hosting a reception at the House of Commons to launch a briefing on how we can ensure the next generation is empowered with the skill to flourish.

​Enterprise and entrepreneurship skills are a major research priority for The Entrepreneurs Network, while YBI has long advocated for youth entrepreneurship in the UK and globally to drive a generation for change. In addition, it is a top priority for the UK’s leading entrepreneurs that the next generation has the skills to succeed.

​We have previously found that over half of young people in the UK have thought about starting (or already have started) a business, yet 70% believe ‘not knowing where to start’ is a key barrier to following through. Not all young people will start businesses, but we believe many of these skills are vital for being more adaptable in a world where tech is disrupting traditional industries and a ‘job for life’ is no longer realistic or desirable.

​YBI leads a growing global network of over 50 enterprise support organisations with a passion for empowering underserved young people (18-35) to start, scale and sustain their businesses. The event will be celebrating their Global Bootcamp and the inspiring young entrepreneurs from around the world who have been shortlisted to become YBI’s Global Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
