Fireside Chat with Iris Chen (Founder of Untigering, Author & Parent Coach)

Hosted by Melissa Lee Gibson (Team Lead | TikTok, Co-Founder NY Asian Film Festival Associate Council, PEN America Young Patrons Leader)

Join us for an intimate fireside chat with Iris Chen, author of Untigering: Peaceful Parenting for the Deconstructing Tiger Parent, as she shares her powerful journey from authoritarian parenting to a practice grounded in partnership, healing, and liberation.

In conversation with Melissa Lee Gibson, Iris will reflect on how her personal awakening as a parent sparked the creation of the Untigering movement—an approach that challenges traditional models of control and achievement, particularly within Asian communities.

This hour-long discussion will explore themes of decolonization, nonviolence, intergenerational healing, and what it means to parent with intention rather than fear. Whether you're a parent, educator, or simply someone interested in rethinking the roles of power and care in our lives, this event offers a chance to engage in thoughtful dialogue around transformation, both personal and cultural.
