Join the DC-MUSE University-Industry Webinar Series!

In this month's webinar, we will explore the topic of "Systems Perspective on Role for Hydrogen and Electricity in Industrial Decarbonization" with the following speakers:

  • Academic Speaker: Dharik S. Mallapragada, New York University - “Systems Analysis of Electrolytic Hydrogen Production for Economy-Wide Decarbonization”. There is growing interest among governments and the private sector in scaling up water electrolyzers powered by renewable energy to produce low-carbon hydrogen for economy-wide decarbonization. The success of these efforts will offer valuable insights for scaling other emerging electrochemical technologies relevant for industrial and fuels decarbonization. This presentation will discuss the use of advanced modeling frameworks to evaluate the techno-economic outlook, emissions impacts, and scalability of electrolytic hydrogen production technologies. The analysis will focus on the importance of operational flexibility in accessing low-carbon and low-cost electricity within an increasingly renewables-dominated power system, as well as the energy system impacts of policies aimed at expanding electrolyzer deployment.

  • Industry Speaker: Aranya Venkatesh, Senior Technical Leader at EPRI - “Analyzing U.S. Industrial Decarbonization Pathways". Explore the role of industrial decarbonization in reaching net-zero carbon targets, using an economy-wide energy systems modeling framework.

  • Moderator: Yuri Dvorkin, Johns Hopkins University - Dr. Dvorkin will moderate the Q&A session following the presentations.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the latest roles of hydrogen and electricity in industrial decarbonization! The webinar will include a 60-minute program with presentations followed by an interactive Q&A.

About DC-MUSE: The Center for Decarbonizing Chemical Manufacturing Using Sustainable Electrification (DC-MUSE) convenes a diverse team of university researchers dedicated to performing research that intends to decarbonize the chemical industry via electrification. The interdisciplinary team spans multiple institutions and areas of expertise to take on the challenge of enabling an electrified chemical industry through innovative research.

About the DC-MUSE University-Industry Webinar Series: This series brings together academic and industry stakeholders monthly to discuss cutting-edge research in a particular area related to decarbonizing the chemical industry. Each webinar features a university researcher (providing an overview of their latest work), an industry expert (discussing relevant applications, challenges, and perspectives), and a moderated Q&A session to foster dialogue between attendees and speakers.
