AI CoLab Workshop - Scaling & Sustaining Innovation
The public sector, like any institution, is by definition, an embodiment and manifestation of established practice. How then does innovation thrive in the public sector? This session will explore the ways that innovation can overcome the inertia of bureaucracy. In a time of tumultuous change, this workshop will not provide a single answer, rather it will create space for participants to consider the levers of change and how the gravity well of the default can be escaped.
Alex Roberts leads an innovation ventures team in IP Australia, IPAVentures, exploring what might be needed for the IP Rights system of the future. Previously, he was Deputy Head of the OECD’s Observatory of Public Sector Innovation, helping governments embed new approaches and steward innovation. His work spans design thinking, generative AI and systems foresight, with a focus on doing things better and differently.
AI CoLab events are intentionally open and collaborative. We capture photos, audio, and AI-generated transcripts so we can remix key insights for the AI CoLab Alliance community. This is always done in line with the Charter’s values; transparent, ethical innovation and knowledge sharing to accelerate collective learning (see join.aicolab.org). By participating in an AI CoLab event, you agree to your contributions being captured and shared in accordance with this policy.
