🎲 Board Game Night: Nature Games
​As the seasons change, so too do the games at your friendly neighborhood Indy Hall Clubhouse. This month's theme is Nature and I'll be bringing these two games into the spotlight: Photosynthesis and Illimat. While they’re very different games from each other, they both put the changing of the seasons front and center in their gameplay.
​All are welcome — whether you’ve played these games a million times, just once, or never at all. In fact, if you’re more of a board gaming newbie or just don’t like complexity, this month’s games are easy to learn and play. As always, we’ll go over the rules together, but links are below for those who want to dig in ahead of time.

​We’ll kick things off officially around 6:30, but we encourage you to swing by anytime after 6:00 to call dibs on a spotlight game or set up something you’d like to run.
​Illimat

Players: 1-4
​Inspired by The Decemberists and shrouded in mystery, Illimat is a game that takes a unique approach to card games. By blending style and flavor of a classic card game with dynamic elements and mechanics of modern board games, it manages to have a distinct flavor among the mass of modern games today.
​Players take turns playing cards into one of the four quadrants of the board, each representing a different season. They’ll try to harvest more than their opponents by combining and collecting them. But beware: hidden Luminary cards can bring both fortune and famine when they are revealed, changing seasons force you to adapt your strategies, and the actions of other players may just foil your best laid plans. Will you come to understand to the secrets of the Luminaries? Or will the seasons spell your doom?

Players: 2-4
​The sun rotates around the board, shining light on some while shrouding others in shadow. A beautiful canopy shifts and evolves as new trees are born and others fall. In Photosynthesis, you play as a forest of trees competing for the ever-changing light of the sun.
​Sow your seeds to claim precious soil, grow taller to catch more rays, or harvest mature trees to gain victory points. You must delicately balance these objectives as you maintain keen awareness of where the sun is going to be next. (I’m making this sound really in depth but honestly this game is super cute and easy to learn. I promise you’ll have fun even if you lose, the game is just that charming!)
