NYC Cookbook Celebration
Please join the Muslim Women Professionals organization for another fun-filled event - NYC Cookbook Celebration! We’d like to bring our NYC Muslim women professional community together before Thanksgiving break and have a delightful potluck and feast together with our MWP Ummah. And what better way to kick off Friendsgiving season than with your favorite professional organization!
We will be using Anissa Helou’s Feast: Food of the Islamic World as the cookbook centered around this potluck, and ask each attend to select a dish from this cookbook to bring to our potluck. Feast: Food of the Islamic World covers a broad range of recipes from across the Islamic world, including Palestinian and Lebanese dishes, with historical context. We hope to showcase each dish and honor the cultures Helou’s cookbook sheds light on.
Noreen Wasti will be joining us as a special guest for our Cookbook Potluck Event! Noreen is a talented food writer, recipe developer, and content creator whose work beautifully explores the intersection of culture, identity, and cuisine. At the event, Noreen will share insights from her journey, discuss her creative process as a food content creator, and reflect on the challenges and joys of working in the culinary industry as a Muslim woman. We can’t wait for her to inspire us with her story and connect over shared experiences!
📍 The event will be held in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Specific location details will be sent upon registering for the event.
