About the retreat

This immersive weekend retreat is an opportunity for teachers to come home to ourselves, to rest and let go, to connect as a group and to learn how to be good gardeners of our hearts and minds.

We will shine a gentle light on our habit energies, to notice what feeds the good experiential states (like gratitude, love, closeness, joy, wonder, peace, stillness etc.) and what may be feeding our unwholesome habits (anxiety, judgement, frustration, anger, perfectionism etc.).

To help us with this, we will take time to explore a Buddhist psychological model of the mind (store consciousness and mind consciousness). This is a practical model that helps us to notice what 'seeds' are well-watered in us, and what seeds need more care.

About Orlaith

Orlaith is passionate about building happy communities. She is Ireland's first leader in Mindfulness-Based Strengths Practice and consults on mindfulness studies with The Thich Nhat Hanh Center for Mindfulness in Public Health at Harvard University and with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth University. Training with Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village community for over 25 years, Orlaith is an ordained member of The Order of Interbeing with the name 'True Garden of the Nectar of Immortality'. Her children's book 'We Are All Flowers' (Parallax Press, 2023) helps children explore gratitude.

Orlaith served as International Coordinator of Wake Up Schools for five years and has supported numerous in-person retreats in France, Italy and Ireland (our first mindfulness retreat for teachers), as well as online events bringing together an international teaching community. She has helped to create several mindfulness practice groups (including two for teachers and for children) and her courses 'Happy Minds, Loving Hearts for Teachers' and 'Happy Schools' support teachers and schools with creative mindfulness approaches. Orlaith is currently working on a whole-school mindfulness intervention that is being trialled in India, Kenya, South Africa and Sweden, in partnership with UNICEF.
