Note on the session: This live session will be recorded and accessible to the facilitators, Kevin and Stephanie. They will use it to write a follow-up summary and post the recorded part of only their story on YouTube, to be accessible to folks who cannot attend the session live. Due to the privacy and protection of folks who attend the session, the rest of the recording will not be published or accessible at all.

Owning our individual healing work has the potential to change the trajectory of our relationships.

Therapy is one modality in which we can do that. To go to therapy is a radical act to know, love, and care for ourselves, and done in combination with other forms of intrapersonal work, can ease emotional suffering in our relationships.

However, the process of starting therapy can be very daunting, even looked down upon in Asian culture. We may:

😔 Feel shame or feel like a failure for not being able to “handle things” on our own

😔 Believe therapy is only for “serious issues” and that ours “aren’t that bad”

😔 Not have the time or ability to access therapy

As a result, we may not even consider therapy as an option; however, taking ownership of our inner work and relational patterns enables us to live fuller lives and show up wholeheartedly within our relationships.

Deepening our understanding of ourselves, whether that is through therapy or other modalities, can result in:

💪🏼 Confidence in yourself, as you gain a better sense of who you are

💪🏼 Less stress, as you learn practical and supportive ways to manage stress

💪🏼 New behaviors that are aligned with your core values

Relational dynamics facilitators, Kevin and Stephanie will unpack these themes in this Brave Conversations session. We’ll specifically explore:

❤️‍🔥 Individual Healing: How our individual journeys in therapy supported identifying individual and relational patterns

❤️‍🔥 Relational Conversations: How we developed the vulnerability to share and ask for support from our networks and each other

❤️‍🔥 Tools for relating: How we effectively utilized our therapy sessions and Disclosure by Relating Between the Lines

It’s safe to say that Kevin and Stephanie’s Asian experience has lots of complexity, and while their experience isn’t representative of all Asian cultures, their intention is to create a space to normalize having conversations about these themes.
