17.35 - 17.55 "Educating Legislators on Blockchain" by Dr Lisa Cameron
Dr Cameron will talk about her work in parliament informing legislators about the sector and the progress made from chairing the APPG in 2021.Also future challenges. She will also speak about her new work chairing the UKUS Crypo Alliance.

Speaker bio: Dr. Lisa Cameron is a prominent figure in digital assets and cryptocurrency policy, having served as a senior Parliamentarian for three terms (2015-2024) and chaired the first House of Commons Digital Assets & Cryptocurrency all-Party Parliamentary Group. As founder of the Global Legislators Forum in Digital Assets, she works with parliamentarians across jurisdictions on digital asset regulation. Her expertise has earned recognition as a leading Digital Parliamentarian in the UK (2024), MP of the Year Awards (2019, 2021), and inclusion in the 100 Women of Westminster (2022). Dr. Cameron currently serves as a Strategic Advisor to Kodelab on tokenization of real-world assets and remains active in charitable work addressing mental health and disability issues.

Aldo de Pape is a serial entrepreneur at the intersection of genomics and blockchain. He is the co-founder of Genomes.io, a company pioneering secure, decentralized genomic data storage and analysis. Aldo's work focuses on empowering individuals with ownership and control over their genetic information through blockchain technology. He is also the founder of TeachPitch, an award-winning educational platform, and the host of the Messy & Masterful podcast.

Aldo will discuss the practical challenges and opportunities at the intersection of genomics and blockchain, focusing on how decentralized technologies can improve data privacy, ownership, and accessibility in the life sciences. He will share insights from his work at Genomes.io, including real-world applications and future possibilities.
