Mission Matters is proud to announce the Mission Matters Leadership Conference.

This inaugural gathering of CEOs, senior executives of larger firms, investors, media, and thought leaders represents the culmination of 9 years of building the Mission Matters Community, which includes 6,000+ podcast interviews and 100,000+ pieces of content distributed across platforms such as Forbes, USA Today, Yahoo! This one-day event features panel discussions and keynotes. The content of the event will cover a variety of different industries, highlighting how you can become a better business leader in your respective field.

Metta World Peace:

Born Ronald William Artest Jr. , in Queensbridge, New York, Artest changed his name to Metta World Peace in September 2011 in an effort to encourage happiness and wellness. He is founder of Artest Management Group and Co CEO of XvsXSports. World Peace played professional basketball for 19 years. In his career he played for 6 NBA teams. He won the NBA World Championship with the LA Lakers in June 2010 and received the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award – the NBA’s highest citizenship and community service honor – in April 2011. He was selected to the 2005-06 NBA’s All-Defensive Team, was voted by the media as 2003-04 NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year and was the only man with 271 steals in his first two seasons in the NBA, breaking Michael Jordan’s record. His autobiography, “No Malice: My Life in Basketball” was released in May 2018 with Triumph Publishing and a documentary on his life in basketball, “Ron Artest: The Quiet Storm” was released on Showtime in May 2019. World Peace is currently pursuing many entrepreneurial projects including the XvsXsports project which will launch to the general public in October 2020. World Peace is also known as a prominent mental health advocate, pop culture personality and media favorite. He raffled off his 2010 NBA World Championship Ring with the proceeds going to his nonprofit, Xcel University (now known as Artest University). The online ring raffle raised more than $650,000. Funds were donated to nonprofits that provide mental health therapists and mental health services to their communities and to provide scholarships to underprivileged youth in the New York City area.


Jim Ellis:

Jim Ellis was the Dean of the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California from April 2007 until June 2019, where he was responsible for the education and well-being of some 5700 students, both graduate and undergraduate.  In addition, he had a full time tenured appointment as Professor of Marketing where he was since 1997, retiring in July 2021.  Prior to being appointed Dean, he was the Vice Provost, Globalization, for the University, responsible for building the USC name worldwide. At USC, he was awarded both the “Teaching Has No Boundaries” award, given by the faculty, and the Golden Apple Award, given by the students.  He also was given the Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring Award from the USC Parents’ Association, and was named one of the top five professors at the University of Southern California by the students. Holding an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School and a BBA degree from the University of New Mexico, Mr. Ellis worked in the business world as President/CEO of Porsche Design, a high-end accessories company owned by Europe’s Porsche family.  Additionally, he was CEO of Port O’Call Pasadena, a high end home accessory chain, and owner/ partner in six other companies.  He started his career with Broadway Department Stores in Los Angeles.

Carlos Vasquez:

He is an American motivational speaker, best-selling author, podcast host, and the founder and CEO of How To Battle. Overcoming homelessness, addiction, and a 17-year prison sentence, Carlos transformed his life through faith, education, and personal development. Today, he specializes in corporate leadership training, coaching, and youth mentorship. Through his signature PRICE philosophy, nonprofit initiatives, and online presence, Carlos inspires individuals and organizations to embrace hope, take action, and achieve lasting transformation and success.


Dina Lapolt:

Dina LaPolt is the founder of LaPolt Law, P.C., one of the most influential entertainment law firms, and the only one of its stature solely owned by a female attorney. Based in Los Angeles, she specializes in entertainment and intellectual property law, representing global superstars and handling complex legal matters like copyrights and trademarks. A highly decorated industry leader, she has been recognized by Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Super Lawyers, and has received prestigious awards, including the Billboard Women in Music Hall of Fame induction and the Recording Academy’s Service Award. Dina has played a key role in shaping entertainment legislation, including the 2018 Music Modernization Act, the RAP Act, and the No Fakes Act, which protect artists’ rights. She co-founded Songwriters of North America (SONA) and is an executive leader of the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC). In 2025, she expanded her influence with LaPolt Media, launching a book, Street Smart: Succeeding in a Man’s World, and a podcast, The Stiletto Room, aimed at inspiring and amplifying bold voices. A passionate advocate for change, Dina has been sober since 1998, demonstrating resilience and dedication to her craft.


Nancy Gale:

Business owner, designer, mentor and passionate activist, Nancy Gale is an inspiring individual with a fascinating story of overcoming hardship and turning it into something beautiful. A strong force not only in the entrepreneurial world, but also in shaping future generations, Nancy is the founder and creative vision behind JAMAH, an American ultra-luxury, Made in the USA, bespoke handbag brand.
