What Is Intelligence? | Polymath Salon @ UATX
WHAT ⭐️:
• Join us for Ekkolápto's very first Polymath Salon at University of Austin (UATX). In collaboration with Harvard/MIT spin-off Augmentation Lab and their 2025 summer residency program for philosopher-builders.
• Our discussion will be focused on diving into the history of intelligence and IQ across humans, machines, and biology–and most importantly how to improve/augment and better measure intelligence in biology and machines.
• We welcome experimental professors, students, and founders passionate in mathematics, philosophy, physics, cognitive science, longevity, cognitive and biological augmentation, neurotech, and AI to rigorously question the boundaries between these fields, and how finding deeper connections can help us understand what IQ fundamentally is across biology.
• Hosted by Addy from ekkolapto.org. Previous hackathons and salons at MIT and FAU.
• Special Thanks to UATX founding class member Dylan Wu for helping us put this together on short notice!
• Next Polymath Salon on May 17 at UT Austin with Professor Scott Aaronson on Philosophy and Computational Complexity: https://lu.ma/complexity
WHEN 🗓️:
• Friday May 16th from 5PM CDT to 9PM CDT.
WHO 👀:
• Students, researchers, professors, and founders passionate about fields of philosophy and logic, computer science and AI, math and physics, engineering, and cognitive science.
• A technical background is preferred but not required. Even if you think you are not a fit for this event, apply anyways!
SCHEDULE 🗒️:
• 5PM to 5:30PM: Networking + Check-In.
• 5:30PM to 8:30PM: In-depth discussion on the history and theory of intelligence and IQ across humans, computers, and biology.
• 8:30PM to 9PM: Closing Remarks + Networking.
WHERE📍:
• Located at The University of Austin.
