About Event

At Data for Action, we are part of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation Insight Infrastructure project. Read more about our role and approach to this here, including how we are committed to focusing on reciprocity of value and moving away from extractive approaches.

As part of this work, we are holding a workshop to start unpicking the specific opportunities and barriers relating to data sharing. This session is intended for charities and civil society organisations whose work is the understanding of - or response to - poverty in the UK. We welcome attendees with either a national or more local level focus.

Building on the prototype ‘Question Bank’ as a starting point (about which you can read more here), the aim of this first project workshop is to:

  • Quickly collate questions from participants;

  • Prioritise some core questions on which to focus, based on the perceived value that the action can bring to workshop attendees and the gaps in current understanding;

  • Identify what data/insight attendees have that could support an answer to the prioritised questions, as well as what would be needed from others;

  • Explore the barriers to sharing and combining the data highlighted above.

This workshop will be online and encourage active participation.
