Open New York Learning Studio Discusses Mayoral Housing Plans
Open New York's Learning Studio is a monthly series for members to discuss and learn together. We have pizza, meet new friends, and build our collective knowledge base for our advocacy!
This month, we're discussing 2025 Mayoral candidates' housing plans. We encourage you to read one or two ahead of time. The Housing Platform Tracker from NYHC is a great place to start too, with summaries and detailed responses to questions about NYCHA, zoning, and more. Bring your dumb questions (JK there are no dumb questions!). Bring your expertise. Bring your takes.
Note: This is not a conversation about endorsing particular candidates. Rather, this is an informal discussion about policy, about the proposals on the table. The goal is to create space for members to familiarize themselves with proposed housing policies in a fun atmosphere.
Here are the plans:
Andrew Cuomo: Addressing NY’s Housing Crisis
Zellnor Myrie: Rebuild NYC
Brad Lander: State of Emergency
Zohran Mamdani: Freeze the Rent
Adrienne Adams: No plan yet (Current Homelessness Plan)
Scott Stringer: Building the Next Generation of Affordable Housing
Jessica Ramos: Affordable Housing
Whitney Tilson: Addressing Housing Affordability
Michael Blake: Welcome Home Agenda
Curtis Sliwa: No 2025 plan yet
Eric Adams: No 2025 plan yet
2021 plans: Affordable Housing, Reimagine Our City, Save NYCHA
