🎤 Speakers Highlight:
Shaw Wang is a pioneer in China’s internet industry. He was one of the 7 co-founders of China’s tech giant Baidu, where he spent more than 10 years overseeing the firm’s business units. In 2011, Shaw founded Unity Ventures, focusing on early-stage investment.
Patrick Kavanagh is the founding partner of Old Friendship Capital, a firm supporting China's next generation of entrepreneurs with a global outlook. He has seeded over 50 startups, incl. Robinhood (IPO at $32B), Alchemy ($10.2B), Peregrine (~$2.5B), Yugabyte ($1.3B), and Astranis ($1B). He is also an early backer of Manus AI and Plaud Note.
Herry Han, Founding Partner of Soul Capital, an early-stage venture fund in China. He was a founding member of Lightspeed China in 2008, where he managed over $2B across 8 funds, backing more than 100 companies—20 of which became unicorns and 10% reached IPO. His notable investments include Xpeng Motors (top EV brand) and Baichuan ("AI Six Tiger" in LLM).
Yipin Ng, Co-Founder of Planetree, a leading VC firm in China with a focus on deep tech backing companies such as Minimax (“AI Six Tigers” in LLM), several unicorn companies incl. PingCAP (cloud database), XTransfer (Fintech) and Deeproute (autonomous driving). With over 20 years in VC, he appeared consecutively on the Forbes Midas List and was a Partner at GGV Capital and GIC (Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund).
Rafael Ratzel, Managing Partner at TH Capital International, a growth equity fund under Tsinghua University, focuses on investing in China’s advanced manufacturing, clean tech, and frontier tech sectors. Based in China since 2008, Rafael brings over 15 years of on-the-ground experience bridging Chinese innovation with global capital. In 2023, he led the launch of the TH’s inaugural USD fund, creating a new gateway for international investors into China’s growth-stage tech ecosystem.
Armin Vogel, Partner at Crossbow Partners AG, a Swiss-based specialist in liquid alternative multi-manager solutions. With over 23 years in financial markets, Armin has held key roles, including Chief Risk Officer at ACT, a currency hedge fund, and Portfolio Manager for hedge fund portfolios at Winterthur Insurance (now AXA). At Crossbow, he focuses on delivering steady alpha through thematic investing and has been instrumental in launching a Greater China AMC fund, investing in specialist China/Asia funds.
Jian Shi Cortesi is an Investment Director and manages China and Asian equity funds at GAM. She was named Citywire World’s 30 best performing Female Fund Manager (2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2017). She won the “Fund Manager of the Year” and “International Investment Woman” awards by the Women in Investment Awards (2021). Prior to joining GAM Investments in May 2010, she worked in research and portfolio management of Asian equities in the United States.

Previously, Wei held a Principal position within the Thematics – Private Equity team at Pictet where he was responsible for global venture capital and growth-stage technology investments.
Nicolas Michel, Head of International Business at Banyan Partners, a Shanghai-based public equity value investing firm, leads international investment strategy and business development. A Swiss native and graduate of the University of Zurich and Peking University, he helps global investors access Chinese A-share opportunities and plays a key role in bridging Switzerland and China through his local network.
