About Event

For our third public program of the year, we delve deep into the world of Dark Patterns, also known as “Deceptive Patterns,” shedding light on their impact, prevalence, and ethical implications. Join us for an engaging panel discussion moderated by Integrity Institute member, Caroline Sinders. This conversation is for integrity workers, designers, developers, policy makers, creative tech practitioners, and anyone contributing to a more ethical digital landscape.

Meet Our Esteemed Panelists:

🌟 Dr. Jen King - As a Privacy and Data Policy Fellow at Stanford HAI, Jen specializes in information privacy, technology policy, and human-computer interaction.

🌟 Kat Zhou - Kat created the <Design Ethically> project, which helps teams forecast the ethical consequences of their products, and has testified about deceptive and manipulative designs at the FTC and EU Parliament.

🌟 Caroline Sinders - An award winning critical designer, researcher, and artist, Caroline is the founder of Convocation Research + Design, a human rights and design lab.

We'll get into:

🌐 Demystifying Dark Patterns: Gain an understanding of what Dark Patterns are, why they emerge, and how they manifest in digital spaces.

🖥️ Beyond the Visual: Explore the evolving landscape of Dark Patterns, delving into their presence in Artificial Intelligence systems and algorithms.
