i dont care if you're good at computers pt.3
What's this?
a gathering of folks who've been too immersed in the tech world and need to release their inner child and make some art
the art you work on can be anything, as long as its not related to your job or school. some examples of past ideas:
painting custom shoes
writing and singing an original song about 'workplace woes'
remixing a song into an original edm track
speed drawing birds and fish for 1, 10, 30 mins at a time
creative youtube videos/shorts
anything else you consider art, seriously! but if you feel like you're 'cheating the system', you probably are, which isn't cool
computers are allowed! they're a great tool to make art — just try to get out of your comfort bubble with what you work on
at the end, we'll have 2 minute demos for people to talk about what they worked on — it's opt in so no pressure!
When/Where:
150 Van Ness 2nd floor - text 6472784273 when youre in the lobby we'll get you
come between 11:30-12pm, hosts will be there earlier; please come by 12:10 at the latest, hard start at 12:15pm
PLEASE COME ON TIME! its cool if you're late, just come in quietly and dont be disruptive
Agenda:
12:00 PM- 12:15 PM - intros
12:15 PM - 2:15 PM - pomodoro based deep work
2:15 PM - 3:00 PM - demos + closing
Why:
i've been procrastinating too much on what sparks joy - feels like we're not alone in this and want to keep others accountable for working on what makes releases their inner artist
we are all children. sometimes u just gotta sit down and do some coloring or finger painting or something
the vibes will probably be immaculate and I hope the people that come will be friends with each other
Snacks:
yes
How to Act:
please dont take this as a time to just work on stuff you'd normally be doing anyway, or to come and "network" - that's just not the vibe, and its mostly silent good vibes anyway
if you come to network i will be really sad - come to create and make friends :D
act like a host!! include people in conversations, talk to people even if they're strangers, offer to help out and clean up - this is so freaking important I cant stress it enough
