David Shulkin MD, the former Secretary of Veterans Affairs, will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural Philadelphia Health Collective meeting on January 30. Dr. Shulkin, who served under both Presidents Obama and Trump in leadership roles at the VA, will be presenting his perspective on what the incoming administration’s healthcare policy will be focused on, and the role new technologies will play in that policy.
In addition to his years of government service, Dr. Shulkin is a seasoned healthcare administrator and CEO, pioneering initiatives in patient centered care and value based contracts. His unique background and expertise positions him to delve deeply into some of the most contemporary areas of interest in the healthcare industry: unlocking the value of patient data to drive better outcomes and cost savings, and the policies and practice surrounding the use of AI in healthcare. According to Dr. Shulkin, “Whether the incoming administration’s policies will ultimately accelerate innovation or run into issues remains to be seen. What is clear is that the stakes for AI safety, security, and leadership are higher than ever before.”
