Parenting workshop on Emotional Intelligence
Dear Parents,
Did you know that a child’s brain is still under construction until their mid-20s? Every tantrum, sibling squabble, or emotional meltdown is your child’s developing brain learning to navigate big feelings. How you respond isn't just about discipline- it's about wiring your child's brain for lifelong emotional health.
Here’s what neuroscience tells us:
The part of the brain responsible for self-control and emotional regulation (the prefrontal cortex) matures slowly and is strengthened every time you help your child handle a big emotion.
When caregivers co-regulate- that is, stay calm and connected in a tough moment, children’s brains learn to do the same. These interactions build emotional intelligence, resilience, and problem-solving abilities.
Stressful or “out of control” moments are normal, and the way you support your child through them can literally change the pathways in their brain for the better.
Are you:
Feeling frustrated by meltdowns over “small things”?
Seeing sibling fights or sudden emotional shut-downs?
Catching yourself saying things you swore you wouldn’t?
You’re not alone. And with the right knowledge, these moments can become powerful opportunities to connect and guide your child’s brain growth.
